A lot of people are trying to make money online. But, to build an income and increase your profits will depend on just two factors. The first factor is traffic. You must have traffic coming to your website, and it should increase and maintain momentum over a lengthy period of time. Your traffic rate should be such that it produces a steady flow of income for your business.

The second factor that determines your online income and sales is your conversion rate. Once people come to your website, your website or landing/sales page must do a good job in converting visitors into buyers. In fact, the purpose of your Internet marketing should be to create, build, and maintain the momentum of these two factors. If it does, success is certain.

But this is one factor that most Internet marketers do not focus on. They work feverishly in driving massive traffic to their website. They never concern themselves with their conversion rate. Unless your traffic is targeted and your sales conversion rate is high, you can put all your effort into driving traffic, but your efforts will be fruitless. No matter what, if your conversion rate is low, all your marketing efforts will be a waste.

Let's say for example, your goal is to drive 1,000 visitors to your website, and you are averaging that amount of traffic each month. From that, you make only one sale. You cannot make money this way. What you must realize is that you must target your traffic to increase your conversion rate. If you want to boost your sales, you have to increase both the traffic and conversion rate.

So how can you increase your conversion rate? Target your traffic through the use of keywords. Think about it. When people come to your website, what are they looking for? They are looking for information, they are looking for solutions to their problems, and that is why they come to your website. However, if they cannot find the information they want at your website, they will leave immediately.

Therefore, you have to provide good quality content at your website because this is what people are looking for. You have to pre-sell them instead of selling directly. Your visitors do not know who you are. You are a stranger to them. And if you are asking them to purchase your product or service the first time they come to your website, you will for sure lose that sale.

This is especially true with Internet marketing. People are skeptical spending their money through the Internet. Therefore, you will have to establish trust, and build a relationship with your visitors before you start promoting to them.

Provide visitors with the information they want first, then you're sure to make that sale.
