The topic on every Internet marketer's mind these days is traffic generation, website traffic that is. But the key to achieving financial success with your online business is not to just generate any type of traffic, but targeted traffic. Visitors who have demonstrated that they may want what you have to offer.

A lot of people receive large amounts of traffic to their website. But to make sales, your traffic must be targeted. The link that drives traffic to your site must contain keywords that interest the visitor. That means your marketing efforts must target a group of people with laser-like precision, using keywords that reflect visitors' interest regarding that specific topic.

There are many ways to build and maintain traffic momentum for your website, but here are two popular ways:

1) Posting on forums. Getting involved with and posting on forums related to your website's niche can generate thousands of links to your website. Just make sure the link to your website leads visitors to a page based on your posting or you will lose potential customers.

2) Article marketing. Systematically writing articles based on keywords that relate to your website's theme, and posting them on your website and with free article directories can drive tons of traffic to your website. The more articles you post on your site, the more traffic you can receive from the search engines.

Whatever strategy you use, it must be done systematically everyday for positive results. That's the key to building and maintaining traffic momentum. Your keywords must be topics that a large segment of people are searching on in the search engines.

Try to use as many different combinations of keywords related to your website. Create a list of words or search terms you think people will use when looking for information related to your website. This will attract different people who are all interested in your website niche, and increase your chances of getting more visitors and making more sales.

If you provide people with interesting content in your forum postings and articles, there is a good chance they will click on the links to your website. Just make sure that when visitors reach your landing page or website, it is related to your keywords -- and that your website is interesting and easy for them to navigate.
